FAQs about Acupuncture
1. How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture stimulates specific points on the body to improve circulation, regulate the nervous system, and activate the body’s natural healing processes. Research shows it influences neurotransmitters, hormones, and immune responses, making it effective for pain relief, stress reduction, and overall wellness.
2. What conditions can acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture is widely used for:
Pain relief – Back pain, arthritis, migraines
Fertility support – Hormonal balance, IVF enhancement
Stress & sleep improvement – Anxiety, insomnia
Anti-aging & skin health – Collagen boost, facial rejuvenation
Digestive & immune support – IBS, allergies
3. Does acupuncture hurt?
Techniques for acupuncture vary greatly from trigger point therapy for muscular strains (dry needling techniques, to electroacupuncture or traditional acupuncture. We like to equate it to working out: walking or jogging results in a different feeling and sensation than a HIIT workout or heavy weightlifting. Both have benefits, but different effects. For the most part, acupuncture is gentle and minimally discomforting. The ultra-thin needles cause little to no pain, and most patients experience deep relaxation during treatment.
4. How many treatments do I need?
The number of sessions varies significantly from case to case and depends on your condition. However, generally speaking, we can expect the following:
✔️ Acute conditions: 3–5 sessions
✔️ Chronic issues: 8–12 sessions
✔️ Wellness & maintenance (if necessary): Monthly treatments

Do you accept insurance?
At Acupremier Acupuncture, we do our best to help you receive benefits from your insurance; however, we are a small practice and insurance companies can be notoriously difficult to work- especially when it comes to alternative health.
For most insurance plans, coverage is only available for acupuncture due to pain or other very specific conditions. Fertility and other internal medicine concerns are NOT COVERED by any plan. For those who need consistent acupuncture care for these conditions, please refer to our packages and monthly plans for more cost-effective care.
We are currently in-network with most Cigna and United Healthcare plans. For all other companies, we collect the full amount due at the time of visit and submit your claims. This is not a guarantee of coverage, and you are responsible for knowing your insurance benefits and coverage. Please refer to specific questions on your plan such as co-pay, deductibles and covered conditions.
